Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Cloaked collects zero personal data. We don't know who you are, what you ask, or how you use the app. That's by design, not by promise.

What We Don't Collect

  • No personal information — no name, email, phone number, or account of any kind
  • No usage analytics — no tracking of features used, session duration, or interaction patterns
  • No conversation data — your prompts and AI responses never leave your device
  • No device telemetry — no crash reports, device IDs, or diagnostic data sent to us
  • No advertising identifiers — no IDFA, no ad networks, no tracking pixels

Network Activity

Cloaked makes network requests in exactly two scenarios:

  1. Model downloads: When you choose to download an AI model, the app fetches model files from Hugging Face's servers. This is a standard HTTPS download — no user data is sent.
  2. Web search (user-initiated only): When you explicitly enable web search in a conversation, your search query is sent to DuckDuckGo's API. DuckDuckGo does not track users or store search histories. Search results are processed locally and not stored after the session.

Outside of these two scenarios, Cloaked makes zero network requests. The app works identically in airplane mode.

Data Storage

All data — conversations, projects, memory entries, and settings — is stored locally in the app's sandboxed container on your device. This data is:

  • Encrypted at rest by iOS device encryption
  • Inaccessible to other apps (iOS sandbox isolation)
  • Not backed up to iCloud (CloudKit is explicitly disabled)
  • Completely deletable from within the app at any time

Third-Party Code

Cloaked contains no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or social media integrations. The app uses only Apple's native frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData, Speech) and the open-source MLX library for model inference.

Children's Privacy

Cloaked does not collect data from anyone, including children. Since we have no way to identify or track users, COPPA compliance is inherent in our architecture.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update this page with the new date. Given our architecture, it's hard to imagine what we'd change — but transparency matters.
